I'm a gonna.....that should have been my choice of the words for this project.
Let me backtrack a bit. I own my business and things were a bit on the slow side what with the economic downturn a couple of years ago. Mentioned to one of my clients that I'd be interested in some part time work if he needed temporary help. Notice I said a couple of years ago.
Now let's fast forward to September, 2012. Still hanging on by a thread, business wise, but had enough coming in to keep busy around the first of the month. The rest of the month would be busy preparing for the Holiday Craft Fair at our Moose Lodge in October. I have never chaired an event of this magnitude before, so a lot of time went into research and reaching out to find vendors. We got a late start, but somehow managed to come up with twenty five vendors. (Phew!)
And who calls in the middle of all this. The client! Hey, we got some work for you. Can you come in for 8-10 hrs a week? Heck yes! Oh, but can you start now? NOW? Aarrgh. Well, needless to say, I didn't end up in the local mental ward, but survived the Craft Fair, the Holidays and juggling two jobs. (By the way the 8-10 hours turned into about 20 hrs a week by the end of week two.)
Don't lose hope.
(You never know what
tomorrow will bring.)
In the middle of all this fun, I saw an email asking for people to participate in the In Your Words Blog Hop. Well, here it is, my turn to post and my project isn't finished (or pressed)! The stitch I used was the Stem Stitch. Originally, I was going to frame it, but now I'm thinking a miniature quilt? I saw this image on Facebook for the Mesothelioma Center. I am thinking that this would be a nice sentiment to give someone suffering from cancer or some other long term illness.
So how about some feedback? What would you do with this? And what colors would you use for the border? Can't wait until I see all your ideas and feedback! Now, being new to blogging, I'm a gonna go and see if I can figure out how to add some "stuff" to this blog...............thanks for visiting!

I love embroidery and this is beautiful. I would go with green or purple for the border to make the colors in the stitching "pop."
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and love your words! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletewonderful.
ReplyDeletevery wise.
Great words! I would quilt it and hang it where I could see it everyday. I'm afraid I need to be reminded of these words often. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the sentiment and would do a 12" mini quilt to hand from one of those wire stands.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little stitchery!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mini! Love the inspiring words. I think a green border, like you have it laying on would look nice. You are right, someone suffering with an illness would enjoy this but I think it's a great reminder to everyone. How about the hospital on one of the children's floor? What ever you decide, it will be enjoyed! Thank you for sharing it with us, awesome job!
ReplyDeleteusairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
It is a very cute embroidery, it will look so pretty when finished. Thanks for, sharing!
ReplyDeleteIts great - I would go with the same green as the caterpillar for the border.
ReplyDeleteYour Words are universal. Hope is precious to everyone. Your embroidery is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove your words. I would put some blocks around it and quilt it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteYour words are lovely. I could think of framing it with some simple squares , like four patches and then quilt it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing you busy woman
I love your 'today, tomorrow' embroidery!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Wonderful words! I think a bright border, like the green you have it displayed on or maybe purple. It could be the center of a giant 9 patch lap quilt for someone in a wheelchair, a lovely table topper or pillow, or so many other options. No matter where it lands I think it will help someone who needs a little hope.
ReplyDeleteWonderful saying... I would use the same green as the catapiller for the border.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting:)
Cute as a bug! I like the background fabric that you are using... a spring green, representing rebirth. Great job!
ReplyDeletei'd make a pillow out of it. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAdorable in so many ways! I could see a series with this block, the butterfly flying in and out of several different blocks...pillows, framed, quilts, wall hangings...just a few ideas, for your down time. Oh, and the borders...brights! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quote! I would definitely make a wall hanging or a pillow but wouldn't it look great with some prairie points using the bright greens and blues of your thread? blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteSome greens and earthy tones - would make a lovely pillow.
ReplyDeleteI am all for a little pillow for this wonderful project. Thanks for sharing. Judy C
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean and am doing the same life/job/quilting juggling act.
ReplyDeleteI would make this into a wallhanging with a scrappy piano key border in greens, golds and touches of blue. It would be perfect to hang at the college where I work....hint* hint*! LOL
A pillow for your couch so you would see each day... and those words are SO true!
ReplyDeleteI quite like these words. I'd suggest a small wall hanging with some perky prints that pick up the colours of the stitching.
ReplyDeletegreat group of words. I to think a small wall hanging would be nice and I would make a teenie tiny pipping in the green you have there and then maybe a blue around that... can't wait to see how you finish it.
ReplyDeletein stitches
Oh...I love this...it's me! I am 59 and I just got back into embroidery...especially red and blue work....is there any chance you would share this pattern with me? I have had cancer, I am in the hop today under Bits and Pieces...and I would love to embroider this and hang it on my sewing room wall so that I am reminded everyday. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I don't see a follower block to sign in to, but I am now following you by email. Have a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteGreat words of encouragement. I think I would use green or purple to frame your stitchery. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's so sweet--the caterpillar and butterfly are the perfect additions to your words. I would frame it with a floral print that included some of your colors.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are a busy lady and yet you found time to embroider this lovely little project and I think I would make it into a pillow top that the person could cuddle when things are looking bleak . Thanks for sharing .
ReplyDeleteI love your words! So true, and such a beautiful reminder.
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to blog I would love to see more.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely project and the words are super. "I'm a gonna" fits into my life too well!! Yes, it would be a great gift for someone. I think I'd do a pillow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful image. I don't think the color will matter, but I would look for some fabric with butterflies to emphasize just how much better it can be. You are right--a great gift for someone suffering from cancer. I know just the person--maybe I will try to make one also.
ReplyDeleteStrong words! Beautifully done. Maybe pick up the green in the caterpillar in a border fabric or a brown perhaps? Whatever you choose, it will pale by the words. :D
ReplyDeletecute ... and very inspiring words ... I see you have lots of suggestions ... all of them would be lovely ... looking foward to seeing what you choose ... have a happy quilty day ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteLovely, could hang it in your office, or at home. A great saying.
ReplyDeleteHeide ho! (I couldn't resist!) You are very generous to make a something for those who are suffering from an ugly condition. I'm sure whatever you make will be appreciated. From CA, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are good at juggling a lot of things at once. I think your saying should be made into a mini-quilt that you could hang on the wall. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI just love the words! It's amazing that you even accomplished what you did--your month sounds like it was crazily busy. I think I'd add a dark border to it to make your eyes go back to the center where those special words are..but what do I know. :O)
ReplyDeleteI think a bright blue and pink border would look pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove this-
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sentiment and wonderful project! I think I would add a scrap border in the colors you've used in your embroidery, because although life can give us scraps, it's up to us to make something beautiful of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet project. And well worth remembering thru life!
ReplyDeleteVery nice embroidery. I would sew a small inner border repeating the same gold color that you used around each motif. Then I might find a fabric that contains all or most of the other embroidery thread colors that you have used and make a larger border in that fabric. Or you could make a pieced border of some kind using the same fabric colors as your floss if you have a lot of scraps in those colors and make something like a flying geese scrappy border all around the smaller gold inner border? Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd find some coordinating butterfly print to border but it would also look great without a border and just a green binding. Thanks for sharing, those critters are adorable :)
ReplyDeleteGreat words and I think that would be a wonderful inspiration to someone who is suffering with an illness. I would border it with a batik with blues and purples. Or stretch it on a canvas type frame. I have seen a few of these lately and the pictures look so nice.
ReplyDeleteHi!! It is very pretty and I love the words!!! I love the green fabric in the pic..and the blue and yellow would be great mixed in the borders!!! The words are great for everyone!!! Kind of a don't give up today because tomorrow everything could change sentiment!!!! Thanks for the fun!!!
ReplyDeleteMake it the center of a block, like a wonky logcabin
ReplyDeleteYou could use this as a the beginning of a medallion quilt and surround it with twelve small blocks using garden, springtime, flowers and butterfly fabrics, binding with a multi-colored striped fabric on the bias.
ReplyDeleteThank you for shareing your project with us. It is vey inspiring. I think I would make it into a quilted all hanging.
ReplyDeleteconn_and_vans_mom@yahoo.com
I had not finished reading even and thought of my niece who is fighting lung cancer. This would be an awesome quote for her. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt would make a great wall hanging for someone with an illness! I would choose material that has the colors you used in the stitching - blue, green and gold - as border(s). Fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for anyone going through a difficult time. I love it! I pinned it!
ReplyDeleteSo true what you portrayed in your little wall hanging. Things will happen if you never give up hope.Blessings Sandra
ReplyDeleteI would make it into a pillow or a little dresser scarf....bordered in the green you are showing; or a rust...very nice piece
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I think I'd make it a wall hanging for my sewing area :) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think a wall hanging would be perfect for this little beauty! How about a pretty lt purple to set it off?
ReplyDeletehulseybg at gmail dot com
I think it would make a fantastic mini quilt!
ReplyDeleteSo true - I agree with your sentiment. What a lovely project!
ReplyDeleteLovely, I think I would make it into a little box or pouch where I store things I use every day. So I am always remeinded. Love it!
ReplyDeletethis is so cute. I love the hope in this piece. Beautiful work, too. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI reallly enjoyed your entry. Thanks for sharing in the hop.
ReplyDeleteThere is HOPE!!! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteSew Lovely Heide! Always HOPE and creative too. I like fabric for the background and add a border to match the treads used in warmer colors to pop out the treads used. Thanks for sharing...Judith, Texas
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty block. Great job on the hand stitching!
ReplyDeleteThats lovely!
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße
Bente
Nice block - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love this quote! I so needed to hear it today, because I've been feeling like a caterpillar lately at work! Just waiting to burst out as a butterfly! Great job!
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring message. I would border it and hang it on one of those little metal table toppers.
ReplyDeleteGreat message! I would use a light green= soothing!
ReplyDeleteI love the sentiment - and the caterpillar and butterfly resonate deeply with me. to me they mean New Life, Fresh Start. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteThose words need to be where you can see them first thing every morning and last thing at night. I think I would mat it and frame it with the help of the person doing the framing input about colors to make it pop! The saying is so true. Thanks for showing your project.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful piece! Perfect for people going through a lot of different kinds of hardship. What a great idea. I actually like it against that green batik, but a floral with yellow, purple and that lovely spring green would be good, too.
ReplyDeleteRosemary B here:
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday :-) Oh this is soo fabulous!
Very inspiring
thanks loadss for sharing. Very inspriational
Great Words Heide. I saw your post over at Seasons. I LOVE to follow blog hops!
ReplyDeleteI also have a QAL going on over at my blog!!!
Great sentiment. I would think butterfly! I would add borders in yellow-orange then black like the Monarch butterfly. Or find a fabric that reminds you of a butterfly wing and go from there.
ReplyDelete"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."-A proverb from the bible which your embroidered encouragement brought to mind. Sounds like you really know it from first hand experience too:) Maybe purple for the border??
ReplyDeleteI think purple for the border. Love the sentiment. Great encouragement for anyone.
ReplyDeleteCute. I would use butterfly fabric for the border.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. You never know. It sounds like things worked out (when you least expected them to)! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHeide- Great idea and what sweet stitching. This could be a wonderful stitchery pocket to make for a friend of mine in the book club that recommended "the Butterfly's Daughter" to read, so I may expand on your idea to make something similiar for a pocket for a kindle holder if that's okay with you? Thanks so much for sharing and participating in this "In Your Own Words Blog hop".
ReplyDeleteOther ideas besides what you offered alredy is the cover of a journal so they can write their feelings as they travel and morph through their experiences of cancer, divorce, death of a loved one, etc....any hardship that life throws at ya. Just a thought.
Thanks Again. Jane
Love your metaphor! It's so cute :) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I hope you'll check out my daily blog.. my day is the last day

Very nice! I like to fabric paint, plus I like glitter... so to finish your piece off I would grab a brush and fill in the butterfly wings with some color and top it with a bit of sparkle. Do the the same with the caterpillar... although no sparkle on him. Paint a little background behind the wording and then make a little pillow to leave lying around. Well... at least that is how I would finish it if it were mine :-)

precious words! Bless you for sharing hope with the world today! Thanks for hanging in there by a thread to get this done with everything else you had going on. I wonder how you did that? Hope the new year brings blessings of more stitching and peace and prosperity in your work situation. Praying for God to Bless you in every way in 2013. Janita
ReplyDeleteYour words are sooo true. Thanks for sharing. I think everyone should go by them.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I would use fabric with butterflies in it for the border. BUT, now you need to make one for yourself that says MULTITASKER!! I think most creative people are multi-taskers and you should be proud of that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice sentiment, very encouraging for anyone, but especially someone dealing with a serious illness. I love your embroidery work. I would make a wall hanging with a dk brown frame/binding and keep it simple. Your work deserves all the attention.
ReplyDeleteNini~
What a great idea to give it away to some one dealing with a serious illness. Please share how you decide to finish it up. =)
ReplyDeleteFrame it and give it to someone special! Glad you survived all the crazyness :)
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. Lovely stitching.
ReplyDeleteI would pick colors from your stitching.
A beautiful sentiment and beautiful stitching. I'd put on a green/purple border to match the caterpilla and butterfly.
ReplyDeleteWonderful contribution to InYourWord's Bloghop!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to gift it to someone who is seriously ill. You did a wonderful job on the stitching. I would pick up the purple and green in the borders.
ReplyDeletelovely work thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the thought! Never lose Hope!
